Sarah Taylor announced her new role at a global consultancy firm on business networking website LinkedIn, saying "sometimes the planets really do align".

Her rapid return to the world of work has raised eyebrows given her given her shock departure from the £76,000-a-year PCC role, which she announced with immediate effect on June 4.

Her resignation came just two years after she was voted into office and has triggered a by-election - estimated to cost £2m - even though the PCC role will be scrapped in 2028.

Ms Taylor, who also quit as Breckland district councillor for Dereham Toftwood, has been appointed as director of transport and mobility planning with SLR Consulting, which advises companies on sustainability issues.

The firm operates in 127 countries, with 140 offices and 5,000 staff around the world.
