'Significant' changes coming as £200m plus Thickthorn revamp gathers pace
National Highways officials acknowledged the frustration some drivers felt when lanes on the A47 were shut as part of the Thickthorn scheme on the edge of Norwich, when the bulk of the work was being done on the A11.

But they said, despite those appearances, work was taking place on the whole scheme, including diverting utilities and archaeological excavations.
Officials said there was a need for the lane closures to keep the public and the workforce safe.
The work is being done by contractors Skanska on behalf of National Highways, which has responsibility for the A11 and A47. At its peak there will be 300 people working on the project.
