New Delhi: Shashank Singh smashed a powerful unbeaten half-century to help Punjab Kings emerge victorious against Gujarat Titans on Thursday. Chasing 200 for a win, the visiting side attained the target with a ball and three wickets to spare. Along with Shashank, young rookie Ashutosh Sharma too joined the party, with an amazing 17-ball 31-run cameo in what became a tough chase for PBKS at a particular stage.

Losing skipper Shikhar Dhawan early in the innings for just 1 came as a setback for the Kings’ who were out on the crease with umpteen aggressiveness, smashing 13 runs off the first over. Jonny Bairstow and Prabhsimran Singh then stabilised the innings with knocks of 22 and 35 runs respectively but could not take their innings forward for the cause. Noor Ahmad removed both the players while the others in the middle order fell victim to Azmatullah and Mohit Sharma.

Earlier, skipper Shubman Gill played a terrific knock of 89 not put to power his team to 199 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Sai Sudharsan and Kane Williamson too chipped in with little cameos and Rahul Tewatia smashed 23 runs in 8 balls to finish the show for GT.
