Is Congress disappointed with INDIA bloc and waiting for its dissolution on its own?

A day after Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Akhilesh Yadav ruled out a rift in the anti-BJP INDIA bloc and said that it was “still intact” to fight the BJP, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut joined chorus and clarified that his party’s decision to go solo in the local body elections in Maharashtra does not mean it has broken away from the INDIA bloc or the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) but has only done so to strengthen the party’s grassroots base.

Speaking to media persons on Monday, Raut complained that there has been no discussion or any dialogue post-Lok Sabha elections between the INDIA members. He emphasised that Congress should play the role of “elder brother” and “initiate dialogue and discussion” among the alliance members to keep it relevant.

There is no end to the talks around the relevance of the INDIA bloc in political circles these days. It all began with Shiv Sena’s (UBT) announcement to contest municipal elections without going in alliance with its MVA partners—the NCP (SP) or the Congress. Also, AAP and Congress are fighting Delhi assembly elections separately and forcing parties like SP and RJD to pick their side. For records, both have chosen AAP.
