Skoda gives Octavia new 1.5-litre hybrid powertrain in international market

Skoda has unveiled Octavia hybrid for the international market with a 1.5-litre petrol engine, two electric motors and a 1.6kWh battery. It will come with two power outputs.

New Delhi: Skoda has introduced a new hybrid powertrain for the Octavia in international markets. The new series-parallel configuration mixes a 1.5-litre petrol engine, two electric motors and a 1.6kWh battery, allowing the car to alternate between electric and petrol propulsion depending on driving conditions. Two power outputs will be available with this system.

Both versions come with the same underlying hybrid hardware, comprising a petrol engine, a 110kW generator, a 125kW traction motor and a 1.6kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery.
