India responds to US Russia sanctions bill, says energy sourcing based on national interest

India has reacted cautiously to the US Congress passing a sanctions bill that could allow President Donald Trump to impose tariffs of up to 100 per cent on countries buying Russian energy. New Delhi reiterated that its energy sourcing decisions are guided by national interest and energy security.

New Delhi: India on Thursday responded to the US Congress passing a legislation that could expose major buyers of Russian oil and gas, including India, to tariffs of up to 100 per cent, reiterating that its energy sourcing decisions are based on national interest.
