Jed York’s bold claim about 49ers’ motto burns him in spectacular fashion after $160 sex humiliation

Jed York’s recent arrest and no-contest plea in connection with prostitution raise a question: Is this what “winning with class” looks like?

Who can forget the San Francisco 49ers owner’s infamous slogan, unfurled in 2014 after the club and coach Jim Harbaugh had “mutually agreed to part ways”?

“Our mission is very simple: The San Francisco 49ers win with class,” York declared at the time, citing off-field issues and standards that had supposedly slipped.

Oops. After the deeply humiliating bodycam footage was released from his arrest in East Palestine, Ohio: Double oops.

York, the self-appointed high priest of 49ers “class,” has now reduced his own motto to the cheapest punchline in franchise history. He delivered it for less than the price of a mediocre Levi’s Stadium cocktail.

Young Jed did not claw his way up the franchise ladder by sleeping in film rooms or grinding through the scouting ranks. He was born into the DeBartolo-York inheritance in Youngstown, Ohio, and graduated Notre Dame in 2003. Two years later, he waltzed into the family business as director of strategic planning.

By December 2008, at the ripe age of 28, he was named team president. CEO followed. In 2024, he became the 49ers’ principal owner after buying more equity from Mom.
