The Issue: Gov. Tim Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey encouraging protests that caused Renee Good’s death.

Gov. Tim Walz’s rhetoric and sanctuary policies are indirectly responsible for laying the groundwork that resulted in the tragic death of Renee Nicole Good (“Willful Chaos,” Andrew Cherkasky & Katie Cherkasky, Post­Opinion, Jan. 15).

Since Good’s death, both he and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey’s rhetoric has been amplified, causing demonstrations to escalate.

We are now at a very serious inflection point where the statements made by Walz and Frey will only result in more death and destruction.

The federal government should give serious consideration to implementing the Insurrection Act.

Frey and Walz’s vitriol is a contributing factor to the poisonous political environment and hatred of ICE agents and law-enforcement authorities in general.
