Canadians oppose woke strictures by about a 2:1 margin, Prof. Eric Kaufmann, author of the new Macdonald-Laurier Institute study, “The politics of the culture wars in contemporary Canada,” tells the National Post’s Jamie Sarkonak in this NP Comment video. This, according to Kaufmann’s research, is similar to the prevailing views in the United States and Great Britain.

While in many other countries, such opposition is causing conservative parties to push back against woke policies, Canada’s Conservatives have been more reluctant. Kaufmann, who is teaching a new course on wokeism at the University of Buckingham in the United Kingdom, explains why he thinks this is and what Canadian politicians need to do to better reflect the democratic wishes of voters.
