Bargain Hunt fans shared their disappointment after a team of players broke the rules.

Presenter Natasha Raskin Sharp was at Ardingly Antiques Fair in West Sussex for the latest instalment of the hit programme on Thursday. As ever, she was joined by new Red and Blue teams.

The Red team was mum and daughter Jenny, who is a business owner, and Caitlin, operations manager. They were assisted by expert Raj Bisram, and for their challenge item they had to buy something from the Arts and Crafts movement.

Father and son Vere, a surveyor, and Ben, a retail manager, made up the Blue team. They were joined by expert David Harper and their additional task was to buy an item with a Japanese connection.

Ahead of both teams' purchases going to auction, host Natasha sat down with antiques expert Tim Forrester to discuss what he thought each item was worth. One item bought by Reds Jenny and Caitlin was a brooch they believed to have been from the Arts and Crafts movement, but Natasha was not convinced.

Tim agreed with Natasha as he noted the time period of the Arts and Crafts movement was the late 19th century, and he thought that the brooch looked newer than that. However, Tim said the Brooch seemed to be "inspired by the movement".

While presenter Natasha said she was "loathe to do it", she said she would have to disqualify the item as it was a rule break. The brooch, bought for £90, still went to auction - where it sold for just £20.

It would have been a loss of £70 for the Reds, but as it was disqualified they were hit with the full price as a £90 loss.

Some fans watching at home were unimpressed with the item's disqualification. On X, formerly Twitter, Thomas said: "Hate these stupid challenges and disqualifications, bring the old format back" and Becky said: "Aww that's a bit harsh".

Linda said: "Really harsh disqualifying people’s items. Leaves a bad taste in an otherwise fun and light hearted show" but @clsyoshimoo replied: "Should have followed the rules then, big business this".
