In the weird and evolving 21st century workplace, AI’s pivotal role continues to expand — and some people say they’d even prefer to chat to these chilly digital systems rather than their warm-blooded human coworkers. Now reports show that AI is actually making the workplace lonelier, adding to what some people say is an epidemic of loneliness. 

In a report about how its own workforce is using its AI products, Anthropic — which makes the Claude chatbot — says that people are asking Claude for help on things that previously they would have turned to their colleagues to answer, with some reporting fewer mentorship and collaboration opportunities.........
