Robert Jenrick has been branded “a liar and a fraud” after being forced to delete a tweet featuring doctored audio misrepresenting the views of a Labour MP.

The Reform UK MP wrongly claimed that Jo White told a public meeting “I don’t care if we stop the boats”, referring to asylum seekers crossing the English Channel from France.

White, the MP for Bassetlaw and head of Labour’s Red Wall caucus of MPs, was made immigration minister by new prime minister Andy Burnham.
