Awards season is now in full swing, with the 2026 Golden Globes red carpet being rolled out on Sunday night

Let’s face it, once all of the distractions of Christmas and New Year’s Eve are done with, for many of us, this time of year might feel a little on the bleak side.

But while the temperature outside might be dropping and the hours of real daylight might be pretty much in single figures at this point, at least Hollywood has some escapism for us all in the form of awards season.

The first major ceremony of 2026 is Sunday night’s Golden Globes, held at The Beverly Hilton in California.

Unlike most major awards shows, the Golden Globes recognises achievements in both film and TV, meaning there are twice as many A-list guests as usual – and that means twice as many red carpet photos for us all to pore through the following morning.

When it comes to the big movies of the last year, the star-studded One Battle After Another led the way with nine nominations, followed by Sentimental Value and Sinners.

As for the biggest TV shows, The White Lotus was the stand-out of this year’s nominees, just ahead of Adolescence, Only Murders In The Building and Severance.
