I’ve recently become an ambassador for The Ben, a charity which provides financial support to anyone in the Scottish drinks and hospitality industry.

There are two main reasons why I love the work that they do. One is there’s a real personality behind it, Chris Gardner, who is an amazing person.

I think that I’m busy, but she’s constantly going at a thousand miles per hour. I’m not even sure that she sleeps. For every application for financial support that is filled out, she takes the time to contact the person directly to find out their story.

I don’t know any other charity that does that. You could be in panic mode wondering how you are going to pay your rent, then get a phone call from Chris and have money put into your account that same day. Imagine the relief you would feel.
