In Gaza, even thinking has become a struggle
I have thought carefully about how to write about my life in Gaza. Even speaking about what we experience requires caution. How can I tell the truth about my reality without putting myself at risk?
This question alone says something about what it means to live here.
My days have become a series of moments. in which survival takes priority over everything else.
At night, the sound of surveillance drones makes it difficult to think about anything beyond the possibility that we could be next. Even when the sky grows quiet, peace feels unreal. At night, closing my eyes no longer feels different from opening them.
Our homes are destroyed, yet we still hope to recover even one small belonging from the rubble.
We want something to carry........
