U.S. May Seek Critical Minerals In Venezuela To Diversify Supply Chain
Venezuela could follow Ukraine as the Trump administration’s next overseas critical mineral source to diversify the U.S. supply chain.
The South American nation has abundant natural resources such as petroleum, gold, diamonds and bauxite. The latter is used to produce aluminum.
Venezuela also has important critical mineral reserves, including aluminum, beryllium, lead, magnesium, nickel, phosphate, platinum, titanium, uranium, vanadium and zinc.
These minerals, and others, are among Venezuela’s natural resources listed in the U.S. Geological Survey’s latest “2025 List of Critical Minerals.” The new list named 60 critical minerals, including 15 rare earth elements, that are crucial for the U.S. supply chain.
