Homeowner overturns council ban on floodlighting for new padel court
Simon Roberts said he had followed planning guidance when installing the court in summer 2025, including designing bespoke lighting to avoid disturbing wildlife.
However, retrospective permission for the lights at the Blythburgh property was refused by East Suffolk Council later that year on landscape grounds.
He then appealed to the Planning Inspectorate, which has now granted permission for the floodlighting subject to conditions, including limits on hours of use.
