Police were called following reports that a woman, believed to be in her 40s, had been injured in the street.

Officers arrived at Catherine Gardens, off Yarmouth Road in Thorpe St Andrew, where the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A forensic tent was erected and investigators could be seen working within the cordon.

Hours later, officers arrested a man in his 60s on suspicion of murder at Harvard Court, off Dereham Road to the north-west of the city.
