Police launched an investigation after the man was approached by the group in Chapelfield Gardens before being assaulted and left "bruised, bleeding and badly shaken".

Following the incident, which took place at about 9.10pm on Thursday, March 13, the injured man fled to a newsagents on Vauxhall Street.
