The monarch went to Flitcham Church of England Primary Academy for the unveiling of the new facility, named the Coronation Library in his honour.

During his visit, on Friday, the King met pupils and staff and others who had been involved in the project to build the new log cabin-style building.

The school, on the Sandringham estate, is run by the Diocese of Norwich Educational Academies Trust (DNEAT).

Executive Headteacher Mrs Gardener said: "It was a delightful way to celebrate this wonderful new addition to our school facilities and we were all so honoured that His Majesty opened the new library for us."

The school's PTA organised a series of fundraising events to raise more than £3,000 to go towards the building and supply of new books.
