The power cut was caused by an underground electricity cable fault on a high voltage network.

A spokesman for UK Power Networks said: "We know there's still nine properties affected by the power cut.

"We are so sorry your power has now been off for several hours and we're working as quickly as possible to get you back on.

"Our staff have been in touch to let us know that they are waiting for further specialist equipment to arrive on site to allow them to continue with the connection of the temporary generators."

It is not yet known when power will be fully restored.
