Petition opposing parking hikes is turned down
It comes after a petition opposing the hikes and calls to suspend the seasonal charges until they could be reviewed further were turned down.
Seafront businesses in Lowestoft raised concerns in February about increased parking charges for the summer season after East Suffolk Council had agreed to introduce new seasonal tariffs.
Running from April 1 to October 31, these apply to a limited number of coastal car parks in Aldeburgh, Felixstowe, Lowestoft and Southwold, with the new seasonal tariff higher priced than off-season as the council aims to ease the demand on busy car parks during the main tourism season.
Operating in five council-owned car parks near to the beach in Lowestoft - at Pakefield Road, Pakefield Street, Claremont Pier, Kirkley Cliff and Royal Green - seafront businesses said the increased seasonal charges........
