New staff room and first floor classroom among village school improvements
A listed building consent application could see a new classroom created and the staff room at Somerleyton Primary School relocated as part of proposed internal alterations.
Located within the village of Somerleyton - which has strong connections to renowned civil engineer and railway entrepreneur, Sir Samuel Morton Peto - the school is housed within a Grade II listed building.

Based within a conservation area at The Street in Somerleyton, on the Suffolk and Norfolk border near Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth, the school was built in 1845 by Peto's architect John Thomas.
It was first listed on the National Heritage List for England in January 1987.
