Norfolk Greens coming under pressure following party's 'Zionism is racism' vote
The policy, voted through at the Green Party's national conference on Sunday, has prompted calls for the city's ruling group to reassure Norwich's Jewish community that they are safe and welcome.
The motion was passed in Brighton by 1,022 votes to 813, and means the party will now treat Zionism in the same way as racism.
Zionism is the belief that Jewish people have the right to self-determination in their historic homeland.
The Green vote has been met with a storm of criticism and laid bare deep divisions within the party - with Norfolk’s Green MP among those speaking out.
Adrian Ramsay, MP for Waveney Valley and a former co-leader of the party, said he was "deeply saddened" by the result and that it did not reflect his own view.
Lucy Galvin, who took the reins at City Hall when the Greens swept to power in Norwich for the first time in May, was not at the conference.
