Victim hands over credit cards and phone after being targeted in police scam
Police have received 10 reports of courier fraud in the county over the last week.
Reports were made by people in Norwich, Long Stratton, Aylsham, Swanton Morley, and Downham Market.
The incidents primarily consisted of members of the public being contacted by scammers pretending to be officers from a London police station.
The con artists claimed a person had been arrested for fraud and had used the victim's cards.
The victim was then encouraged to dial 999 without hanging up to confirm the identity of the 'officer' and then provide card details for the investigation.
In one case on Thursday, one person in Wymondham was convinced to place credit cards and their mobile phone into an envelope, which was then collected by a courier.
A spokesman for Norwich Police said: "If you receive a call from an officer and wish to check their identity, we advise hanging up and calling 101- ideally from a different phone.
"An officer will never mind waiting for you to check their identity via the control room."
