Police were called to a property in Layer Close, Bowthorpe, by paramedics at 4.45am on Monday.

The ambulance service had been responding to reports of a man who was struggling to breathe when they encountered a man who was being violent and aggressive.

When crews arrived, they found a man in his 70s with several stab wounds.

He died at the scene.
