Several flood warnings and alerts were issued to flood-prone communities including Brancaster, Wells and Hunstanton, with people told to "act now".

The Environment Agency and local authorities also advised people to move vehicles to higher ground, move family and pets to safety and move important items upstairs if possible.

But some cars and vans were caught out by the sudden rise of water, which photographer Gary Pearson snapped at Harbour Way in Burnham Overy Staithe.

One car, a VW Golf, was seen almost entirely submerged. Its windows were rolled down and rubbish from inside the vehicle had floated to the water's surface.
Visitors and locals could also be seen taking pictures of the flooded car from the village's ferry as it approached the harbour.
