Lecturers, researchers and maintenance workers from the UEA united at the picket line on Wednesday, March 26, following an "overwhelming" vote to take strike action.

The protests followed the revelation that university bosses must make £11m of cuts to balance the budget, and may need to resort to compulsory redundancies to do so.

Friction has been building at the UEA for some time, with 400 jobs already lost through voluntary redundancy, severance or the non-renewal of vacant posts since 2023.
