Sugar factories making good progress with surprisingly sweet beet harvest
The company is more than a third of the way through its 2025-26 campaign at its sites at Cantley and Wissington in Norfolk, Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk and Newark in Nottinghamshire.
Agriculture director Daniel Green said all four sites have been "running really well", processing as much as 50,000 tonnes of beet per day in total.
And, despite dry conditions earlier in the growing season, he said beet yields and sugar contents have been better than expected - particularly on heavier land which had retained moisture during the dry summer.
