Landowners welcome waste crime crackdown - but demand end to 'glaring injustice'

The prime minister has announced stronger measures to tackle criminal gangs running illegal waste sites.

They include better use of drones, a bigger role for the police and the National Crime Agency, more Environment Agency officers on the frontline, and a steep rise in fines to deter and punish offenders.

The Country Land and Business Association (CLA) welcomed these measures but stressed that political promises must be matched by results on the ground.
