Plans for 'mammoth eyesore' set to be thrown out after uproar in posh seaside village

A council planning officer has warned proposals to demolish the five-bedroom 1920s house on Wodehouse Road at Old Hunstanton, before replacing it with a bigger split-level property are set for refusal because of their impact on neighbours.

It came after locals took to the council's planning portal complaining the scheme would lead to "over-development" of the site.

It continues the trend of older homes in the village being developed to make way for "overbearing" new properties.

"I strongly object to this planning application which is changing a characterful house into another mammoth eyesore on Wodehouse Road," one posted.
