WHILE the payment of pensions, especially in the public sector, is a major financial challenge for the state, particularly due to the large number of retirees, these woes are exacerbated by bureaucratic lethargy. The delayed pensions of former employees of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology appears to be a case of the latter. Retired employees and teachers of the varsity recently protested outside the Karachi Press Club, urging the prime minister to help clear their outstanding dues.........
