Significance of Conflict Management

It has been over two years since I began writing about our situation in World War 2.5, which could expand both horizontally and vertically at any moment due to any stakeholder’s miscalculation. Be it the Arab-Israeli Conflict, the India-Pakistan Conflict, the Russia-Ukraine Conflict, or any other ongoing conflict in Sudan, Yemen, Syria, etc., nearly all disputes have become so complex that conflict resolution remains a far cry. Unfortunately, there are no visible efforts in this regard by either the warring nations or the global organisations. In such a dismal state, we are left with conflict management to ensure none of the ongoing conflicts becomes a serious concern for regional or international peace, stability, and security. Therefore, the significance of conflict management must be understood and employed to prevent further chaos and anarchy in conflict-ridden regions.

Conflict management as a process can only progress if stakeholders are genuinely committed to peace, stability, and security. For instance, the situation in South Asia requires serious scholarship to investigate India’s motives for keeping the disputes unresolved and Pakistan’s options for persuading India to institutionalise conflict-management mechanisms that may shape the environment to step up efforts toward conflict resolution.
