Assassination of Sessions Judge Abdul Hakeem Kakar in Mastung was not a random act of insurgent violence. It was a calculated, high-profile strike against the backbone of the judicial system. The striking point here is that it came barely a month after an Anti-Terrorism Court sentenced Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leaders Mahrang Baloch and Sibghatullah Shahji to life imprisonment for their role in the lethal Gwadar riots. Another shocking revelation came when ISKP took responsibility for the attack just hours later. It raises alarms when ISKP enters this horizon.
