Scotland's ban on disposable vapes is a much-needed intervention

Scotland and the UK’s incoming ban on disposable vapes in April 2025 is a much-needed intervention both for the sake of our children’s health and the environment.

Kids and underage teens are taking up the nicotine habit in this new guise in shocking numbers, while streets and green spaces are swamped with vape litter.

That’s why the Daily Record launched its campaign to outlaw these harmful, polluting gadgets 18 months ago.

But it’s no surprise to learn vape firms are now looking at ways they can bend the new rules to keep these lucrative products on our shop shelves.

“Big puff” e-cigs which seek to exploit potential loopholes in the ban by
introducing, effectively, a bigger and longer-lasting disposable vape to the marketplace should be given short
shrift by regulators.

Adding a token USB charging port to these devices shouldn’t fool anyone.
