UK's biggest family music festival dubbed a "big deal for Coventry" faces financial review
The annual Godiva festival has come under scrutiny with Coventry councillors demanding a "review" to ensure the event becomes self-sufficient amid financial concerns. People within the Conservative group criticised the council's management of the event, describing it as "over-inflated" during debates last week. But Coventry Live readers said they would like to see the whole thing axed to prevent further council debts.
The funding was approved in the Labour-dominated council's budget, following lower ticket sales in the previous year that led to a £200k overspend by the council.
The Godiva festival in War Memorial Park last year had been marred by issues, including reports of a "stampede" and underage drinking. The festival, which has been running for over 25 years and is billed as the UK's largest family........
