How is it possible that there was no intelligence on this?

No crackle on Telegram or elsewhere to hint at terrorism, a planned mass murder, to say a massacre was in the making?

How is possible that improvised explosive devices were planted without knowledge of any kind?

Sixteen dead - at least 16 dead - on Bondi Beach. 16 dead including a 10-year-old girl. Murdered because they were Jews. More than 30 injured. Two shooters, at least two shooters, shooting from a bridge linking Bondi Pavilion to Campbell Parade. And this is just after a year with attacks on synagogues, with graffiti across the city. Hate Jews. Kill Jews.

Is our police force paying any attention to what is going on in our communities? Is it possible to have so many guns and to be so unmonitored?

As the news broke, my brother called me. Or did I ring him? We both just breathed together on the phone.

What could we do except to speak in half-sentences. What did we know? Not much except what we were watching together. What did we see and hear on Sunday night? Nine minutes. Visions of shooters. Bravery of 43-year-old father of two Ahmed el Ahmed, who wrestled the gun from the shooter. Family and friends messaged me from all over. Love. Solidarity.

Nothing helps.

Now it turns out that the murderers were father and son. What kind of a father drags his son down like this? What went on in that family?

There will be much to know about the police side, the criminal investigation - but I want to know........
