Exercise a big stress reliever for all those workplace pressures

If you had said to me three years ago that I’d be writing this in the Wholefood cafe with a “berry-licious” smoothie bowl in front of me as a treat after an hour in the gym with Jodie the personal trainer, I would have had you referred for a mental health assessment.

Yet this is where I find myself, buoyant of mood, and, well, 50kg more buoyant. There is a clue in there for me. There is a connection between mind and body. Even at my biggest, I had reluctantly to conclude that exercise had a positive effect on my emotional state.

In a world of work where we are being asked to do more with less while being inundated with alarmist (and false) messages that it is all in vain as a robot is about to take our job, it is not surprising that depression, anxiety and stress are such a major issue in the workplace.
