As the end of January rapidly approaches, so does the end of the winter athletic season. Let’s look at how things stand.

Boys Hoops: Cibola has once again established itself as the premier basketball school in Yuma County, holding an 8-3 record as of Monday night. YC is worth a mention with an 11-1 record in 3A.

Girls Hoops: Once again, it’s all Raiders here. At 8-4, no Yuma team surpasses Cibola.

Boys Soccer: San Luis and Kofa are two of the top teams in the 6A and 5A divisions and look built to go deep into the playoffs, but until they face more formidable teams, there’s no surefire way to tell.

Girls Soccer: At 6-2, Gila Ridge holds the top spot in Yuma County. It hasn’t lost to a local team.

Wrestling: Yuma Catholic and Kofa possess the best boys wrestling programs out west. It’s a toss up for the girls, but Yuma High, Gila Ridge and YC have some of the best individuals in the state.
