In June 2015, for the second time, I hoisted the Stanley Cup trophy before a sold-out crowd in Chicago. It was everything I worked for over nine seasons, six teams and countless battles. What I didn’t know was that my biggest battle was still ahead.

Just three months later, I was forced into retirement after years of head trauma – from at least seven diagnosed concussions – left me with depression, anxiety, fatigue and sensory overload.
Despite visits to top neurologists, endless scans and countless prescriptions, I kept hearing the same words: “You look fine.” I tried everything from talk therapy and hyperbaric chambers to supplements and strict diets, yet nothing offered lasting relief.
