Portland Trail Blazers’ Israeli forward Deni Avdija on Monday fell outside the top five on ballots submitted by fans, players and journalists whose votes determine the starting lineups for the NBA All-Star basketball game next month.

While he placed fifth on the fan rank, he only placed tenth in the player rank and ninth in the media rank, finishing a combined seventh in the Western Conference voting, just two spots shy of a starting bid.

While missing out on the top five, he placed ahead of NBA icons like Kevin Durant and LeBron James, who’s still on the court at age 41. The top overall vote-getters in the West were Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Steph Curry, Victor Wembanyama and Anthony Edwards, while Giannis Antetokounmpo, Cade Cunningham, Tyrese Maxey, Jalen Brunson and Jaylen Brown topped the Eastern Conference tally.

Fan balloting counted for 50 percent of the vote to determine the five starters selected from each conference, with current NBA players and a media panel accounting for the remaining 25% each. All-Stars are selected without regard to position.
