Group Chaverim – Assistance and Charitable Association, headquartered at Hebraica (recognized as one of the largest Jewish community institutions worldwide), has announced Sarita Mucinic Sarue as its new president.

Sarita currently serves as Coordinator of Education and Culture at the Holocaust Memorial of São Paulo – one of Brazil’s most significant institutions – and is also a writer. In 2025, she represented the Memorial at the International Seminar for Holocaust Museum and Memorial Educators, held at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, Israel. The event offered intense days of learning, dialogue, and exchange with directors, educators, and professionals from institutions across the globe, united by a common mission: to preserve memory with historical rigor, ethical responsibility, and relevance for future generations.

Her journey with Chaverim Group spans more than 20 years of volunteer work and teaching in Jewish culture and music workshops. She holds a degree in Pedagogy focused on people with disabilities and worked as a teacher for over three decades. Her master’s thesis at the University of São Paulo explored the life and legacy of Janusz Korczak – a Polish educator who, in the face of antisemitism, fought to bring dignity to orphans in the “Children’s Democratic Republic” orphanage he founded.

Now, her passion and experience converge with the mission of Chaverim Group: to combat exclusion and indifference faced by individuals with intellectual and psychosocial disabilities, as well as their families, promoting an active, fulfilling, and dignified sociocultural life for all.

The institution enters this new chapter under the leadership of someone deeply committed to education, memory, and inclusion.

We wish Sarita many blessings in this new chapter.
