HIGH NOTES: Vision screening for kids, gifts for vets, ice rescue
In Broadalbin-Perth, the Broadalbin-Perth Lions, in coordination with the Northeastern Association of the Blind at Albany (NABA), recently provided a free day of vision screening for local elementary school students. More than 100 pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first grade students at Broadalbin-Perth Elementary School received the tests. Each year, an average of 12% of the children screened for vision impairments are flagged for potential vision problems. These children are then referred to a doctor for a follow-up visit and treatment if necessary.
