Sanders on Trump Iran f-bomb threat: ‘Ravings of a dangerous and mentally unbalanced individual’

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) slammed President Trump’s recent post attacking Iran over the Strait of Hormuz, calling the president’s comments “ravings.”

“One month after starting the war in Iran, this is the statement of the President of the United States on Easter Sunday,” Sanders said in a post on the social platform X that featured a screenshot of Trump’s post.

“These are the ravings of a dangerous and mentally unbalanced individual. Congress has got to act NOW. End this war,” the Vermont senator added.

On Sunday morning, President Trump unleashed on Iran over the Strait of Hormuz. He threatened to strike the country’s infrastructure and pressed the Iranians to “open the F‑‑‑in’ Strait, you crazy bastards.”

“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F‑‑‑in’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.

A day later, Trump said a recent ceasefire proposal from Iran was “significant” but still “not good enough.”

“They made a proposal, and it’s a significant proposal. It’s a significant step. It’s not good enough, but it’s a very significant step,” the president told reporters. “They have made and they’re negotiating now, and they’ve made a very significant step. We’ll see what happens.”

The Hill has reached out to the White House for comment.

Sanders’s senate colleague, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), also went after Trump for his post that featured the f-bomb, calling it “completely, utterly unhinged.”

“If I were in Trump’s Cabinet, I would spend Easter calling constitutional lawyers about the 25th Amendment,” Murphy posted Sunday on X.

“This is completely, utterly unhinged. He’s already killed thousands. He’s going to kill thousands more,” he added.
