Scaramucci: Bondi wasn’t doing enough for Trump

Former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci said President Trump removed Pam Bondi from leading the Justice Department (DOJ) for failing to meet the president’s expectations.

“She’s just not doing enough,” Scaramucci told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo late Thursday.

He added that in the 11 days he served during Trump’s first term, the president told him he wanted a figure like the late Roy Cohn, his ruthless former lawyer and mentor, to serve as attorney general. That is why, according to Scaramucci, Trump first tapped former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) to serve in the role, before he withdrew after facing criticism from both sides of the aisle.

“He was intent on getting a Roy Cohn,” Scaramucci told Cuomo. “If you remember, Matt Gaetz was going to be that Roy Cohn, but for some reason, Matt Gaetz got blocked up in the Senate, and I think he would have probably been a little bit more Rottweiler-like for Trump.”
