Thousands of cans of Walmart-brand fruit cocktail recalled

(NEXSTAR) – Possible lead contamination has prompted the recall of thousands of cans of Walmart’s Great Value-branded fruit cocktail.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday designated the recall as Class II, meaning that consumption or exposure to the recalled fruit cocktail could “cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.”

According to the recall notice, more than 44,000 cans of Great Value Fruit Cocktail in Fruit Juice from Concentrate may have been contaminated with elevated levels of lead.
