Google CEO Sundar Pichai warns AI will ‘change nature of work’, here’s what he recommends to avoid future layoffs
In a recent interview, Google CEO Sundar Pichai has issued a stark warning regarding the inevitable impact of artificial intelligence on the global labour market, cautioning that the AI technology will rapidly automate tasks and necessitate widespread adaptation in society.
Speaking on the accelerating pace of AI development in a BBC interview, Pichai highlighted that no sector is immune to the upcoming transformations. He specifically highlighted the effect on certain jobs, stating that the primary effect will be the “automation of routine tasks.”
“The nature of work will fundamentally change,” Pichai said, expressing concern about the speed at which this shift is occurring. He acknowledged that while AI will create new, highly skilled jobs, it will also displace many existing roles, especially those based on repetitive functions.
