While last year's NTFA premier league men's competition was incredibly cut and dry, 2026 is shaping as anything but.

Reigning premiers North Launceston, who have won 38 matches in a row, will have a new-look line-up, which opens the door for several teams to step up and stake their claim.
The women's competition is set to be as close as last year's, however things are still slightly murky with the full list of VFLW-contracted players yet to be announced.
With that all being said, here are January's power rankings that may age horrendously as the season progresses.
1. Launceston
They pushed North Launceston to their limits at times last year, and the Blues have retained the bulk of their stars leading into 2026.
The potential loss of Archie Wilkinson to the VFL team will be covered by recruit Alex Tubb, while Zach Morris and Tiernan McCormack are among those who have departed Windsor Park.
2. South Launceston
If Launceston are to win the flag, it won't be a cakewalk as South Launceston shape as the main opposition.
New coach Anthony Taylor is set to unleash several returning junior products who have achieved premiership success during their time away, adding to a young group that provided impressive performances last year.
3. North Launceston
The Bombers' starting line-up will look vastly different to their premiership-winning outfit, losing the likes of Brad Cox-Goodyer, Alex Lee, Declen Chugg and Harry Bayles just to name a few.
