New York's Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, passed in 2019, is well-intended legislation to commit New York to invest in global warming emission reductions. The present estimated cost to New Yorkers, and the failure of many other states and countries to contribute equitably has caused an unfortunate backlash against the CLCPA, along with renewables not keeping up with electric demand.
