Swindon Town make new move in League Two cat and mouse game

Swindon Town have shown that they are continuing to stay ahead of the pack in the eternal game of League Two cat and mouse.

Whilst the Vertu Trophy is not a competition which draws the biggest crowds, there was a sense that something was brewing towards the end of the game. Whilst much of the game was played in the middle third, Town had shown the heart to subdue a League One side and kept going right until the finish.

In the ten or so minutes preceding Ollie Clarke’s winning goal, the reduced crowd began simmering and practically boiled over as the ball hit the back of the net. It was so notable how loud things got in the Arkell’s Stand that some Peterborough United fans who had travelled for almost three hours to get there mocked those who had the temerity to celebrate winning the game.

Swindon lined up a bit differently for this game. Although the 11 players made rough sense for the normal 3-4-3, Ian Holloway stuck with the 4-2-3-1 that had helped turn the tide in Chesterfield at the weekend. Whilst not all the football resulted in masses of work for Alex Bass, there was........
